Two-Way
Radios / Walky-Talkies

No monthly charges or airtime fees
These are not to be confused with Nextel, Iden, or the radios
that operate with repeaters or towers. These work anywhere because
they don't rely on towers or networks; they just transmit between
each other, with a range of, up to 6 miles
There are 2 basic types
Commercial Walky-Talkies
These are intended for everyday heavy-duty use. They have battery
life designed to last all day, they are more durable & all of
their accessories are better quality. The cost of these are much more
than those of the FRS. These require an FCC license to operate. These
are usually "grouped", where one jobsite will have many
users on the same channel everyone listening in. There is no private
chatting.
We only sell the Motorola line-up because quality in a walky-talky
is everything & Motorola's quality is top-notch.
The uses for these are virtually unlimited:
- Restaurants
- Construction
- Educational
Facilities
- Warehousing
- Manufacturing
- Security
- Maintenance
- Retail stores
- Hospitals
- Hotels
- Day Care
- Delivery
These are available
in VHF or UHF frequency bands.
They are set to a specific frequency, but it can be changed.
FRS or Recreational Walky-Talkies
The F stands for family. These are intended for recreational
use. Most operate with alkaline batteries, though some have rechargeable.
These can be used for commercial purposes, but we strongly don't recommend
it. The majority of models available feature a 2 mile range (only
in clear unobstructed areas). You may find some models that claim
to go further, but from our experience, often they don't. Many models
& manufacturers are available. You can easily change the channels
& meet up with someone else who has one.
Great for everyday, and recreational activities:
- Talking from
car to car when you're following someone
- Splitting
up/Meeting someone in a crowded place
- Great for
staying in touch in large indoor places:
mall, amusement park, auction, expo, park
- Great for outdoor activities:
hunting, fishing, running, skiing, boating, paint-balling
And Much More!
